The Inside Scoop - training with colour me beautiful

Training

For this week’s blog post one of our recently trained consultants, Sarah Sallows (pictured) from Bexhill on Sea, East Sussex, shares her colour me beautiful story.

Sarah says...

"I trained with colour me beautiful as I got to a stage in my life where I felt like I needed to do something for me. My eldest daughter left for university, my youngest had a full time job and my husband has his own very successful business. Basically the long and short of it was… I was bored. I needed something new, something exciting, something to give me a new lease of life.

A couple of years ago I was given a present by my husband to see a colour consultant. I thoroughly enjoyed it and noticed how quickly people would compliment me on my style and how I looked. I never thought I would have the confidence to be a colour consultant or to even travel to London to do the course alone, but after a couple of years toying with the idea… I thought if they can, then why can’t I?

The training for colour me beautiful was an intense week in London. It is amazing how much you can fit in a small amount of time! The course covered all types of colour theories to practical application and using each other and brave volunteers as models. What I found most helpful was the marketing and business element of the course. I loved meeting new people with all different backgrounds and coming together to work as a team.

One of the things I love about being a Colour Consultant is I get to work from home and the hours I choose! I am very flexible with my working hours and I am happy to work the hours that suit my clients.

To date I have had a mixture of clients ranging from all ages. I see clients individually but also have had clients who wanted to have a consultation as a group. I absolutely love the mother and daughter consultations!

Whilst I love the colour consultations, colour me beautiful inspired my passion for make-up. I now offer make-up packages alongside my colour consultations to ensure they are wearing the correct colours to suit their skin tone.

Personally I love one to ones with my clients. I feel they open up more to you and you are able to provide the service specific to them. I feel it is a personal experience and everyone is different. I love making them feel better about themselves.

If you are considering training for a career as a personal stylist I would say GO FOR IT. I wish I had done it years ago. The satisfaction knowing you have helped, inspired and supported someone to make them feel better about themselves is the best job in the world."
